This language is used for application configuration as well as game data configuration. The next two files we’ll open use the Dwarf Fortress data language. Feel free to add your own DFHack init options to this file, but I usually just keep mine as the default. If you don’t do this, DFHack will give you a warning at startup telling you to do this. They’re brief, and I’ll explain each one in short.įirst, copy the file dfhack.init-example and rename it to dfhack.init. In order to install Dwarf Therapist on Windows, simply unzip the archive to a folder that you use for programs. Quit once it appears that everything is in order.įor information about all of the nifty features that DFHack has, check out the official DFHack documentation. You should see the DFHack version in the top-left corner of the game window. Start the game again to make sure that everything is installed correctly. Don’t worry about any of the other executables that DFHack has added, we’ll still launch the game with Dwarf Fortress.exe. You should now have a single game directory with folder names like data, hack, raw, and stonesense. In order to install DFHack, extract the contents of the DFHack archive (should be named dfhack-0.47.04-r3-Windows-64bit.zip or something like that) to your game directory. In order to quit from the main menu, use the arrow keys to select “Quit” and then press Enter. Go ahead and start Dwarf Fortress.exe if you want to make sure that you’ve installed the game correctly. Extract the contents of your game archive (should be named something like df_47_04_win.zip) to that folder. This can be any directory on your computer, we’ll refer to it as the game directory for the rest of this document. In order to install Dwarf Fortress, choose a location where you want to run the game from.
